MAY 2010 NEWSLETTER
As I am not able to do a newsletter this month am sending Gary's message and dates to remember to all members.
MESSAGE FROM OUR NEW PRESIDENT GARY BECK
I just got back from the Save Clear Creek Rally. I predict we will lose the battle with the BLM to re-open Clear Creek to the way it was before the closure. No one from our club joined me and the turn out was not nearly as impressive as the hundreds that had attended the public meetings back in January. Apathy is the BLM's best weapon. Time goes by and people lose interest and victory slips away.
On the same note only five people showed up for the rock sale at Yoko Bassetts. I felt very bad for Yoko, so we will try to sell slabs and rough rock at our club BBQ on August 1st, and some books at our next meting.
Think about what project you would like to make at our workshops and enter at the Monterey County Fair, Monterey Fairgrounds, September 1-6, and we will make it happen. (mail entry form by July 20 and online entry by July 31). Go to www.montereycountyfair.com for entry forms.
