NEW MEETING PLACE - CAL-HAWAIIAN MOBILE HOME PARK
20 RUSSELL ROAD, SALINAS, 7pm
July 19, 2010

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
We’ve gotten past the Fourth of July Celebration in Spreckels and I want to thank everyone who helped make it a success. Our booth looked great with lots of nice stuff on display. Kids loved the spinning wheel, plus, there were rock bags and a guess the number of polished stones in a jar for fund raising.
Our annual club BBQ will be August lst out at the Ranch. This year we will try a new live rock auction and also have a rock swap. So, bring out the good stuff and trade it for more good stuff! Meat (chicken and tri-tip) and beverages will be supplied, so bring a side dish or dessert, silverware and plates, chairs and your favorite beverage and have a good time.  (a signup sheet will be at the July 19th meeting or call Karen Jones 678-0337 or Gail Lack 449-0322 with your choices)
After the BBQ is past I would like to see members enter something they have made in the Monterey County Fair and we will have more information at the July Meeting at Cal-Hawaiian Clubhouse.     President Gary Beck

May 1st Intarsia Workshop
Donna Mueller from the Carmel Valley Club, Ha, Jim and Marilyn, Pat Bartel, Karen and Kami, Karin, Teri and Gary had a fun day fabricating intarsia into attractive cabs. Gary had sliced up Big Sur Rhodonite and Jade into matchsticks which we super glued onto thin slices of backing. While waiting for the glue to set up we visited the Beck’s new, large garden site. A major undertaking!
The workshop was a good exercise in something we haven’t tried before. Let’s do it again and made more pretty cabs.
