Salinas Valley Rock and Gem Club Website !

Our club is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote the study of mineralogy and geology by encouraging the collection of minerals, fossils and gems, and by providing field trips. We encourage the study of lapidary through workshops and networking with other members of the club.

MEETING PLACE: Salinas Community Center at 940 North Main, Salinas, Near the pool.(Where we used to meet)

NEXT BOARD MEETING: January 19, 2009 at Salinas Community Center at 6 pm. All members are invited to attend.

CHRISTMAS PARTY: DECEMBER 7, 2008 5:00-9:00PM

Our club colors are pink for Rhodonite and green for Jade.

Salinas Valley Rock and Gem Club is a member of the California Federation and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies.

We have a club library of books and videos. We also have equipment available to members(after workshop instruction) to check out and use for a small fee. Tumbler fee is $10 per month, rock grinder and polisher fee is $20. We also have a small trim saw.

We hold an annual show on the 2nd week in March for the education and enjoyment of the public.

We offer hands-on material for schools to study gems and minerals. can check out these trays for two weeks and a member can help explain them to the students.

Club dues are $10 for singles and $20 for families per year, and $5 for each badge requested. Dues are payable in December for the following year.
