GARY BECK’S PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE for April 2010
Hello SVRG Club:

Our annual show is behind us so it’s time to thank everyone who helped make the show a success. I want to especially thank Jimmy and Ken and any one else that donated some nice rock to the silent auction and wheel. Teri reported the show did about average as far as income. I hope members had a chance to visit and tell guests why we enjoy our hobby.
Saturday, Bob and I had almost 30 people make their first cabs on the clubs’ new Genie. I found that very rewarding. Show Chairman Ernie had some ideas on ways to improve the lay out of the floor space and after cleanup,  while the tables were still set up, we met with Debbie (hall caretaker) to run them by her and she said OK. We think that two more dealers can be added next year and the board will get involved on this issue.
We reached one of our goals at the last meeting. Members wanted a better meeting raffle and some nice items were offered and ticket sales significantly increased. With that thought we will need more nice items donated for future meetings.
We need to order 48 club shirts, so contact Karin ASAP (kcbakes27@yahoo.com) with how many and what size you want.
I talked with Yoko Bassett and set the date of Sunday, April 25, 1PM for her rock sale with more info to follow at our next meeting.

SAD NEWS TO POST, GENE AND BERT RECENTLY PASSED AWAY. They had been such a vital part of the club -
See their Obits on the Newletter page.

Majority response is positive from visitors. Maybe have a hand stamp for repeating visitors. Spreckels needs an ATM machine. Floor plan of vendors/show to help move people around the show. New floor plan in works, maybe 2 more vendors. Snack Bar - Karin will contact Monterey Culinary Center  for possible contract. Final income from show is less than previous years.
